July 10 ~ This Week
Bring the whole family to the Monona Farmers’ Market this Sunday. Pick up a café drink at Café Social or some fresh squeezed lemonade from Chippy’s and watch Eddie Danger perform his musical marionette puppet show. Eddie Danger, inspired by a 100 year-old pump organ he bought at an auction, wrote a series of Sea Songs. He recorded an entire concept album of original songs titled Seafaring Songs. He then created a storyline and commissioned master puppeteer, Dr. Bob, to create puppets for each of the songs including Sea Hags, Pirates, Vikings, Narwhals, Mermaids and more. The interactive musical marionette puppet show become known as the Seafaring Puppeto and has been enjoyed by kids and adults at farmers’ markets, schools, festivals and art centers.
There is a great selection of seasonal favorites at the market including raspberries, green beans, zucchini, kohlrabi, tomatoes, and beets.
The Double Dollars Program is up and running. This is an incentive program for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Foodshare users offering a dollar for dollar match for all EBT transactions up to $25.
Mayor Bob Miller will be at his picnic table office from 10:00am to noon. He will host a live broadcast from the market on Monona’s local radio station, WVMO at 98.7 FM.
The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 30.
