June 17 ~ “Pop” in for a Treat!
The Monona Farmers’ Market honors those important men in our lives with the annual “Pop in for a Treat” event this Father’s Day. Dads can choose a “manly” treat including fishing lures, tools and golf balls.
Dean’s Blue Country, a one-man performer playing old to new country music, is this week’s entertainer. His foot-stomping music includes the songs of legends such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Dwight and Buck, Jim Reeves, and Waylon Jennings.
It’s not too late to get tomatoes and other veggies and herbs planted. If you have questions about gardening or yard work, stop by the Master Gardeners’ tent for expert advice. These volunteers are at the market the first and third Sunday each month through September.
For something fresh, hot and delicious, vendor Sue Vang is now serving Crab Rangoon and eggrolls. These specialties will be available for the rest of the market season.
The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 29. EBT is accepted and the Double Dollars Program is available.
