September 25 ~ This Week
This Week at the Market
Live entertainment is at the center of the Monona Farmers’ Market every Sunday. This week, enjoy the music of Dark Hollow while shopping for fall produce or just sitting and enjoying some of the market beverages and foods.
The much-appreciated volunteer Master Gardeners wrapped up their season at the market with some final advice. This is the perfect time to can and preserve the season’s produce. There is a great selection of current, safe food preservation cookbooks and online resources available. Visit the UW Extension website for information and recipes for canning, drying and freezing.
For the past two years the Monona Farmers’ Market has been honored to receive the Best of Madison Silver Award. The market is a candidate for the 2017 Best of Madison Awards in the category of Food & Drinks. You can show your support for the market by casting your vote. Voters are allowed one vote per day, per category using one email address. Scroll to the lower portion of the page to see Food & Drink categories.
Volunteer opportunities are available with the Monona Farmers’ Market. If you are interested in promoting local, accessible foods, the board of directors currently has openings. Talk to the Market Manager at the Sunday market, or contact Suzanne Wade, 608-334-4517.
Visit Mayor Bob Miller at his picnic table office from 10:00 am to noon. He will broadcast live on Monona’s local radio station, WVMO at 98.7 FM starting at 11:00.
The market, located at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October 30. EBT is accepted. The Double Dollars Program is available.
