May 22 ~ This Week
It’s a great time to start your herb garden and get tomatoes and peppers planted. You’ll find an excellent selection of organic herbs and bedding plants. Stop by Emerald Meadows Family Farm, Natalie’s Garden and Greenhouse, and Nehmer’s Produce and Greenhouse for both plants and gardening tips. Adding compost is a great way to enrich your soil. Earth Stew has just what you need to improve the health of your soil.
As you plan your Memorial Day menu check out the Salsa Man’s fresh, homemade salsas and chips, Farmer John’s delicious cheeses and cheese curds, pickles and preserves at Chef K. Clarks and Land of Oos, and sweet treats from Roots Chocolates.
This week’s market music is 50% Folk. They are four individuals out of central Wisconsin who enjoy singing and playing traditional music. They reunited nearly ten years ago at a fortieth high school reunion and have played together ever since. They enjoy playing classic folk, country, bluegrass, blues, and gospel music. You’ll hear strong vocals accompanied by a variety of acoustic instruments including washtub and electric bass.
Stop by to visit with Mayor Bob Miller.
He keeps office hours from 10:00 to noon at the picnic tables. You can also listen to Mayor Bob’s live broadcast from the market. Tune in to Monona’s local radio station, WVMO. 98.7 from 11:00 to noon.
The Monona Farmers’ Market is located at Ahuska Park, 400 E. Broadway. It’s open from 9:00 am to 1:00 every Sunday through October 30th.
